How To Fish A SenkoBass Fishing

There we are. There we go. There we go. Come
here.

I just want to show your face. C'mon. You got a face full of Senko buddy. Look at
that.

He's got a mouth full of Senko. Weightless Senko that's what we're talking
about today. Not a huge fish but, where do you think the huge fish come? Let's talk about
it, weightless Senko's. Hey, folks, Glenn May here with BassResource.Com.
Today I wanna talk to you about fishing a weightless Senko.

This is what we're talking
about right here. Weightless Senko. Now, if you're not sure how to rig it this way, I've
got a video on that that's linked underneath this video, that shows you how to rig it this
way, but basically I want to take you through the gear that we use, and then how to fish
it. To start with I got a 3/0 hook.

This is a
five-inch Senko, so we are using the 3/0 hook on it. It's an extra wide gap hook. It's not
any special kind of hook. It's not a flipping hook or a superline hook, it's just your standard
wired thickness hook, and it's also obviously not a finesse hook, so not a real thin wire
hook either.

It's just a standard hook size. And I have that paired with 15lb fluorocarbon
line. And there's a distinct reason why I. Use fluorocarbon line, not monofilament, copolymer,
or braid.

Fluorocarbon, it'll sink a little bit. And
that sink rate, it won't inhibit this lure as it falls. You want it to fall straight
down, and it kinda undulates as it falls. So this line is not gonna impede that action,
it's gonna fall with it.

If I'm using braid, braid has a tendency to be buoyant, and sometimes,
you may have this happen to you using braid or monofilament, or copolymer line, you throw
it out there, and the bait will do this, it will actually float away from you at an angle,
or it'll fall at an angle. You've probably seen this a time or two. And that's because
those lines are a little bit more buoyant than fluorocarbon. So when I use fluorocarbon
that's the reason why.

I don't want to impede the action or change the action of the bait.
That's the exact reason why. Fluorocarbon also is, you know, it's real
sensitive, and since we're fishing this weightless, you're fishing it on a slack line, any little
bit of sensitivity that you can gain the better. So, fluorocarbon. And I'm fishing it on a medium action rod
with an extra fast tip.

So not a medium-heavy or heavy action rod, but medium-heavy . . . Or
medium rod with an extra fast tip that helps .

. . The fast tip aids in throwing this bait
out there. It's a real light weight, so you need that tip to toss it out there again,
again bait casting rod.

That's the standard gear. Of course, you can
use spinning if you want. That's . .

. Nothing wrong with that., Use an 8lb test, 15lb test
line. I tend to throw the bait around heavy cover, and around bushes, and thick weeds,
so I'm using the 15lb, that's why I do that. But if you're in open water? Fishing rocky
areas, where there is not a whole lot of vegetation or something where the fish can wrap you up,
then by all means, go with 8lb test, 6lb test if you want.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm
just telling you the way that I do it. Okay, so that's the gear, that's how I use it. Now
let's go out and fish it.

Okay, so one of the basic ways and the most
effective ways to fish the Senko is simply just cast it out there, engage the reel, and
then let it sink. Let it do its thing. The Senko flutters and moves and wiggles. The
key thing is, when it's falling like that you wanna watch the bait.

You wanna watch
the line especially. Watch that line to see if it twitches, jumps, flicks, does anything
odd, because that's usually the fish grabbing it. So pay close attention that if you see
that, then of course set the hook. Once it hits the bottom, all you're gonna
do is just lift it up with your rod tip, and let it fall and slack line.

Reel up some of
that slack, 'till it's just about . . . 'Till you just about have the bait, but you don't
wanna move the bait with your reel.

You just want it to fall straight down, and that's
the enticing . . . It does the work for you.

You don't have to do anything. Let it fall.
Again, now my line is slack, so I know that it's hit the bottom. I'm just gonna reel it
right back up again. All I'm doing here, I'm fishing an area that's
got some rocks in here, and some scattered weeds, and the fish are out here roaming in
it, and that's a perfect way to fish this bait.

And that is how I do it 90% of the time,
how anybody does it, really. You just cast it out, let it fall. A lot of time those bites
occur on the fall on that slack line and that's the hard part, it's detecting that bite. So
pay real close attention to that line.

If you don't and the fish grabs it, then by the
time you realize there's a fish there and you set the hook, you might gut hook fish
them. It's real easy to do that with this bait, so pay close attention to that line. I'm gonna show you one other way to retrieve
it. Once you've cast it out there, now what you wanna do is kinda bring the rod tip down,
just kinda twitch it.

And then just twitch it back to the boat. And you can do this at
any speed. Here I'm doing it at a moderate, you know . .

. Twitching. This is like a jerk
bait. But one other way to do it is, you can do it really fast.

You can do it slow, you
can do it really fast. You can make it look like a bait fish just kinda skimming across
the surface. Just pop it, pop it, pop it, pop it. And reel it in as you do it.

And it
looks just like a little bait fish that's trying to get away from something. And a lot
of time, especially when the fish are feeding on schooling bait fish, you can throw right
into them and pop it like this and you can catch a lot of fish doing it this way. Okay, very straightforward way of fishing
it. One other method I wanna show you here, you cast it out, let it sink, and once it
hits the bottom, all you wanna do is drag it on the bottom.

And here you are trying
to imitate some kind of a bait fish, say a sculpin or something like that, feeding off
the bottom. And in that case you just wanna move it with the rod tip. I like to move it
to the side. Some people like to lift up on it, but I don't wanna lift it up off the bottom
here, I just wanna drag it along.

Just move the rod tip, and then reel up the slack. And
that's all there is to it. Straightforward Senko fishing. If you fish it like this you're
gonna have whole heck of a lot of fun.

How To Find Fish Fast On A New Lake - Pro TipsBass Fishing

Glenn: Hey folks, Glenn May here with BassResource.Com,
and today I'm asking the elite pros questions that you submitted on our forums. Let's see what they have to say. Chris from Maryland, he asked, "If you were
scheduled to fish a lake or river that you've not had the chance to pre-fish or haven't
fished in a long time, what are the three most important things you look at?" Gerald Swindle: Time of year, water temperature,
and water clarity. That pretty much determines what you're going
to fish, how you're going to fish, and where you're going to fish.

The water temp can always tell you is it spawn,
if it's just spring and the water temperature is 60 degrees then we know there's probably
some fish spawning. If it's the fall and the water temperature
is 60 degrees we probably know the fish are headed to the back of the creek. So, your water temperature is always going
to be crucial. The time of the year is gonna dictate kinda
where the fish should be, teamed with the water temperature, and then the clarity would
be what color bait you'd fish and what style you would fish.

Glenn: What are the three most important things
you look for? Jason Christie: Well, a river...Be safe, because,
you know, rivers...I think of rivers and I. Think of the Arkansas River, stumpy and stuff
like that. Be careful. Just, the conditions, if I haven't been to
a place, you can always show up to an event and just fish the conditions, fish wind.

If I haven't been there, I'm not practicing,
and the wind's blowing 20, I'm gonna run out there and I'm gonna go to the windiest banks,
and fish moving baits, and I've won a lot of tournaments doing that. I've won a lot of big tournaments doing that. Wind's not blowing? That's kinda...That might be a little tough,
but, you know, if they're spawning or if they're deep, pick you a place on the map out there
and go out there and start dragging deep. You just really have to fish...You really
have to fish the conditions and just develop some confidence quickly and figure out that
pattern as quick as you can if you haven't been there.

And believe in yourself. If you get...One bite is not a pattern. Two bites, maybe. Three, you're good.

You get that third bite doing something, have
confidence that what you have figured out is the right thing, and have confidence in
yourself to run it. Glenn: That works for me. That makes total sense too, because when you
go out on the lake you've gotta throw what you're confident in, but most importantly,
start off with more of a search type bait. See what's going on, and that plays into what
you just said.

Go to a windy bank, go to a windy area, throw
a fast moving bait. I mean, covering water looking for those bites,
that's what I'm hearing, right? Jason: Yeah, you wanna...In our practice periods,
and whenever we get to a lake that I've not been to or haven't been to in a long time,
I'm going to fish as fast as possible. And it's...If anything, it's just where I
can see the entire lake, or a big part of it, and get a feel for it. You can fish through an area and just think
about it.

If you were to go through it real slow, you'd
get 5 bites...Say you'd get 5 bites. If I go through it real fast, I get 1 or 2. I kinda equate that to getting...I feel like,"Hey,
if I get 1 or 2, if I come back through there and slow down I can probably get more," but
also that lets me cover a big part of the area and a big part of the lake because we
only get two and a half days. And you may see after you spend a day on the
south end practicing and you're going granny slow, well by the end of the second day you
get up there and there's topped out hydrilla on the upper end, you probably know that you
made a mistake and you've missed out on all that time.

So, you wanna kind of...When I get to a lake,
the first day, I kinda pick an area and I. Fish, and I just take off and I fish everything
and I develop some kind of pattern. And then the second day is my run around and
try to pick the best areas for that pattern. And then the third day is just go and make
sure I hadn't missed anything.

And it works. Everybody has a little different way of doing
it, but whenever you haven't been there, you have no history there or anything like that,
you just have to move and move until you get it figured out. Justin Lucas: If I haven't fished them in
a long time, my number one's gonna be what time of year is it? What stage should the fish be in? I'd wanna know that. I would wanna know what the weather pattern
was leading a week up to there, and what the water level is wherever I'm going too.

Knowing the water level, whether it's high,
low, if I had been there before, what it is comparable to that. So many times, so often, we go places where
the water level is just different, and you can't go back to the same areas and catch
fish. You have to fish new ones, and paying attention
to the water level at the lake or river wherever you're at is extremely important. Glenn: So don't fish memories.

Justin: Try not to. I've heard Brent Ehrler say it before and
I really do it myself. I try not to save too many waypoints unless
it's a hard object that I know is gonna be there forever. If it's a rock pile or something like that.

I try not to save waypoints because they're
always changing and I don't want to go back and fish stuff that was good before. Doesn't always...Rarely means that it'll be
good again. Glenn: So let's say I take you to a lake you've
never seen before. What's the first thing...Two things, what's
the first thing you look for, and what's the first bait you pull out? Justin: That's an interesting question.

First thing I would look at, water clarity,
and if was dirty I'm probably gonna pull out some kind of spinner bait, crank bait, something
like that, Berkely Squarebull, cover a lot of water. And if it's clean water I'm probably gonna
pull out some kind of Berkely plastic. Maybe it's a Pitboss that I'm flipping or
a Havoc Bottom Hopper on a shaky head or drop shot. Glenn: Perfect.

What are the three most important things that
you look for? Chris Zaldain: Oh man, unfamiliar waters,
that's my jam. I love fishing just run and gun style. I call it freestyle fishing. The first three things I look for, one is
the most obvious cover in the lake.

Like, let's say we've got a Florida lake that's
a big round bowl. I'm gonna look for that one obvious dock with
the green arrows sticking on it. I just...The most obvious piece of cover and
that's generally where I start. So, that's one, or the most obvious main like
point, whatever it is, I'll always start there to try to get me clues.

Two...Wind. Wind is a huge, huge factor in what we do. Wind always blows no matter what. A lot of anglers run from the wind, and I
like chasing the wind.

I love fishing the windiest banks possible. Breaks up light penetration, it pushes baitfish
in to some of those banks. And three...Water clarity. Water clarity is a big one.

If it's a southern type lake where dominant
patterns, like flipping a black and blue jig, I wanna find that dirty water. If we're up north I wanna find the cleanest
water possible to throw those little worms and swimbaits, stuff like that. Glenn: Great advice. I think that's...Those three things will put
you on fish, guys.

Play this video again and listen to what he
just told you. Justin: Absolutely, I stick by those. Kevin VanDam: That's a really good question,
and we do this all the time. So, for me, I wanna come up with a general
seasonal pattern and find out what areas I.

Think are gonna fit that seasonal pattern
for the type of body of water that you're going to, whether it's a river, a natural
lake, a reservoir, a tidal body of water. So, I know that bass do certain things during
each season of the year in those systems. Then I wanna get out there and assess the
exact conditions. Look at the water clarity, the habitat type,
and then when I actually get out and start practicing I don't spend more than 10 minutes
in one spot doing the same thing without having some kind of positive response.

So, if I'm there for 10 minutes and nothing
happens I'm gonna be moving on, I'm gonna be changing baits, I'm gonna be doing something
different because if you spend an hour in each little location you go to, before you
know it you've wasted your whole day. Glenn: Now that's pre-fishing? Kevin: Pre-fishing. Yep. Glenn: So, what if you're fun fishing and
you're not fishing tournaments and you've never been in this lake...

Kevin: Same thing. Pre-fishing, it's the same thing. You're trying to learn, you're trying to find
them, you wanna do it as quick as you can. Glenn: And there you have it.

How do schools of fish swim in harmony - Nathan S. Jacobs

How do schools of fish swim in harmony? And how do the tiny cells in your brain
give rise to the complex thoughts, memories, and consciousness that are you? Oddly enough, those questions have
the same general answer: emergence, or the spontaneous creation of
sophisticated behaviors and functions from large groups of simple elements. Like many animals,
fish stick together in groups, but that's not just because
they enjoy each other's company. It's a matter of survival. Schools of fish exhibit
complex swarming behaviors that help them evade hungry predators, while a lone fish is quickly singled out
as easy prey.

So which brilliant fish leader
is the one in charge? Actually, no one is, and everyone is. So what does that mean? While the school of fish is elegantly
twisting, turning, and dodging sharks in what looks
like deliberate coordination, each individual fish is actually
just following two basic rules that have nothing to do with the shark: one, stay close, but not too close
to your neighbor, and two, keep swimmming. As individuals, the fish are focused on
the minutiae of these local interactions, but if enough fish join the group,
something remarkable happens. The movement of individual fish
is eclipsed by an entirely new entity: the school, which has its own
unique set of behaviors.

The school isn't controlled
by any single fish. It simply emerges if you have enough fish
following the right set of local rules. It's like an accident that happens over
and over again, allowing fish all across the ocean
to reliably avoid predation. And it's not just fish.

Emergence is a basic property of many
complex systems of interacting elements. For example, the specific way in which
millions of grains of sand collide and tumble over each other almost always produces the same
basic pattern of ripples. And when moisture freezes
in the atmosphere, the specific binding properties
of water molecules reliably produce radiating lattices
that form into beautiful snowflakes. What makes emergence so complex is that you can't understand it
by simply taking it apart, like the engine of a car.

Taking things apart is a good first step
to understanding a complex system. But if you reduce a school of fish
to individuals, it loses the ability to evade predators, and there's nothing left to study. And if you reduce the brain
to individual neurons, you're left with something that is
notoriously unreliable, and nothing like how we think and behave, at least most of the time. Regardless, whatever you're thinking about
right now isn't reliant on a single neuron
lodged in the corner of your brain.

Rather, the mind emerges from
the collective activities of many, many neurons. There are billions of neurons
in the human brain, and trillions of connections between
all those neurons. When you turn such a complicated
system like that on, it could behave in all sorts
of weird ways, but it doesn't. The neurons in our brain follow
simple rules, just like the fish, so that as a group, their activity
self-organizes into reliable patterns that let you do things
like recognize faces, successfully repeat the same task
over and over again, and keep all those silly little habits
that everyone likes about you.

So, what are the simple rules
when it comes to the brain? The basic function of each neuron
in the brain is to either excite or inhibit
other neurons. If you connect a few neurons together
into a simple circuit, you can generate rhythmic patterns
of activity, feedback loops that ramp up
or shut down a signal, coincidence detectors, and disinhibition, where two inhibitory neurons
can actually activate another neuron by removing inhibitory brakes. As more and more neurons are connected, increasingly complex patterns
of activity emerge from the network. Soon, so many neurons are interacting
in so many different ways at once that the system becomes chaotic.

The trajectory of the network's activity
cannot be easily explained by the simple local circuits
described earlier. And yet, from this chaos,
patterns can emerge, and then emerge again and again
in a reproducible manner. At some point, these emergent
patterns of activity become sufficiently complex, and curious to begin studying
their own biological origins, not to mention emergence. And what we found in emergent phenomena
at vastly different scales is that same remarkable
characteristic as the fish displayed: That emergence doesn't require
someone or something to be in charge.

If the right rules are in place, and some basic conditions are met, a complex system will fall into
the same habits over and over again, turning chaos into order. That's true in the molecular pandemonium
that lets your cells function, the tangled thicket of neurons
that produces your thoughts and identity, your network of friends and family, all the way up to the structures and
economies of our cities across the planet..

How do fish breathe underwaterSmart Learning for All

Smart Learning for All How do fish breathe underwater? With the help of oxygen cylinders and masks. No Fish breathe underwater using the oxygen that is dissolved in water. So, do they use a mini vacuum cleaner to absorb oxygen from water? No. To absorb oxygen from water, fish use special organs called gills.

Gills are full of blood vessels. Also, the walls of the gills and blood vessels are very thin. Now, during breathing. Fish take in water through their mouth and forcefully push it through their gills.

When the water moves through the gills. The dissolved oxygen from the water passes through the thin walls of gills and blood vessels, and enters the blood. Apart from this, the waste carbon dioxide
present in the blood passes into the water. Thus helping fish to breathe underwater.

Eventually, the carbon dioxide-rich water
is given out from gills. For more educational videos, please download 'Smart Learning for All' Android App from Google Play Store. Also, don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel..

I'm in Manchester, England at Harry Ramsden's, taking on The Harry Challenge! Now I'm in England so I had to make sure I came over to Harry Ramsden's to take on their food challenge. They have multiple locations, all around the United Kingdom & Ireland, but I'm at the Manchester location taking on their challenge which involves 600 grams of delicious cod. With a pile of chips underneath then three pieces of bread which are buttered.

I had to chose two sides to go with it and I went with mushy peas & onion rings. I've got 30  minutes to finish the food challenge.  It cost 20 quid but it's definitely worth it for this food. If I win I'll get a shirt and I'll get on their Wall of Fame and a certificate.

Lets get this food challenge started! Now we all know that I can finish this.  The past 18 challenges have been mostly for time. I'm still going to go for some time on this one, but I'm looking to enjoy it more than just speed. Lets get it started!  One, two, three! Alright lets start off with the fish! Very good!  There's so many burger challenges, steak challenges, things like that that it's awesome to get a fish & chips challenge.

I've only done one before back in New York.  Now these mushy peas will only be the 2nd time that I've ever had them, so lets bust into them now! Seven minutes in - lets get the rest of this delicious cod down!  Perfectly cooked! Little over ten minutes in.  We've got our three pieces of bread left and then our onion rings. Thirteen minutes in.

13:14 - Awesome food challenge!  Not sure what the record is but I wasn't really going for it. I was definitely looking to enjoy that! My first proper fish & chips challenge in England.  Loved it! The cod, onions, bread, chips, mushy peas.  Very very good! For winning in under 30 minutes I'm going to get a free shirt, a certificate, and be up on their Wall of Fame.

Fish Moilee - By Vahchef @ Vahrehvah.com

Hello namaste salaamwalekum satsriyakaal; welcome back to another session with your VahChef at Vahrehvah.Com. Today I'm going to make a dish from
Kerala using fish which is one of my favorite and they call it Meen Moilee
this is a excellent fish preparation i love to make this with pomfret but today i got a fish which is a bhetki first let's marinate the fish take a turmeric, salt, some pepper powder, and squeeze in half lemon juice just one and half tablespoon of coconut oil; mix these ingredients; add the pieces of fish
and mix it up. For this preparation we are going to use coconut milk and to extract the coconut milk from the coconut is very easy just take a coconut break it and remove the skin of this coconut the brown skin just so that you
get the just the white meat cut into pieces put in a blender make it into a
fine paste if you need to add, you can add some water to hand it too; and to the paste add 1 glass of hot water and that will bring out all the milk from this coconut paste later we can extract it out by using a muslin cloth. For this Fish moilee I love to use a little bit of cardamom, lot of people don't use it if you want to use it please use it just two pieces of cardamom put in the
ding chik ding chik just five six cloves of garlic and a little bit of ginger and then crush all of this and we're going to use it after we crush it.

To a hot pan add some oil and use coconut oil to this add fish; make sure cook it on all the sides once the fish is slightly grilled just remove it into another plate;  now the fish is nicely grilled just keep it on the side and in the same pan, dear friends use the same pan because this pan is got lot of fishy flavors which you want and add some more of coconut oil and when it is hot enough, add mustard seeds when the mustard seeds crackle, add the crushed garlic ginger and cardamom, slightly saute it. Add onions add curry leaves and also just break few green chillies and add to this if you notice that I've added onions we just slightly bigger pieces not chopped because it in this preparations you want to sweat the
onions not brown them just sweat it till they become slightly transparent that's good enough I. Just crushed some of the fenugreek seeds
and add to this and 1 tablespoon of coriander powder and some more of pepper powder if you want ok to this add some coconut milk and now add the pieces of fish into this since the fish is already cooked you know it will ooze out very nice flavors
just simmer these pieces in this coconut milk and add some more salt. For this
preparation tomatoes are optional lot of times when
we make fish moilee in the hotel we don't add but tomato pieces will add nice flavor and you don't want the tomatoes to be fully cooked you want them to be slightly simmered in
this so I'm going add tomatoes after i add fish and i'll also let them simmer in
this milk when this dish is ready you want a very nice silky sauce for this
fish moilee just cover it up with the lid and let it simmer we're going to add the final edition of
this coconut milk to this and simmer it for two minutes and then going to switch
off the flame that's when the real flavors of this
coconut really comes in now see the fish is almost getting tender that's when don't use a spoon or
anything to make this just take this pot and just mix it like this so that this mixes properly.

Now the fish is almost cooked that's when pour in the final drop of
some coconut milk and we're going to simmer it for another three minutes and
the fish should be done now you can see that this tomatoes are
blanched that means they become soft but not you know cooked too much and the fish is also very nice;  look at this fish let's taste this. Haha this sauce is made something
similar to the kind of sauces you see in Thai and Malaysia, lot of coconut milk with fish and this is a great combination because we added only white pepper, green chillies, salt and added coconut milk, there's a small amount of sweetness that
come because of this coconut milk huh it is very nice thick, it kind of thickens with the onions and coriander powder and so on it kind of literally coats the spoon oh
oh wow now look at this fish it is a delicate fish like to have some
pieces of tomato I like the sauce which is awesome and
all you need to do is add some more of coconut milk so Wow look at this fish huh if you want a little bit spicier you can add more green chilies or pepper powder; use white pepper powder In a five-star hotel whenever we make
fish boneless you know we add the fish later
in the last when the sauce is all ready but use fish like pomfret and this will taste awesome it's not always that you have to eat the
fish spicy with lot of masalas. This fish moilee is a milder version and the greatest thing is it tastes awesome and you can eat a lot of fish when you make it in the fish moilee style. Dear friends I hope you enjoyed today's
session of learning how to make fish moilee with your VahChef but remember vahrehvah is all about inspiring others to cook, please put your recipes and cooking tips
so others can benefit from your great cooking yeah.

Fish farming Vietnam

Hello sustainable growers. Today, in this video, we're going to go to
Vietnam and we're going to visit a farm of Basa. You know Basa is one of these catfish from
Asia that is sold everywhere in the world. That's one of the most farmed fish.

So today we go and we visit the fish farm
in Vietnam that's a really big fish farm and that's a special fish farm that is sustainably
certified. Before anything, give me a like. Give a like to this video, share it with your
friends. If you haven't done it yet, you can subscribe
to the channel, and don't forget to get the six-step guide from the description of this
video.

This is a guide that is going to help you
to build your own aquaponics setup and to produce your own food at home. It's free and I designed it to help you to
build your aquaponics setup with success. Enjoy the video. Today we are in Vietnam in the Mekong Delta
visiting a Basa farm, and this farm is a bit special because it's certified ASC and GLOBALG.A.P.,
Which means Aquaculture Stewardship Council and Global Good Aquaculture Practice which
is actually two certifications of sustainability.

So here we got 11 ponds, really big ponds. You can see at the back. And they are really full of Basa, which is
a fish that is sold everywhere in the world. And sorry.

I wearing some glasses because the sun is
very strong here so I have to keep those glasses. Otherwise, I would not be able to make this
video correctly. So here we can see some kind of floats or
boats where we got some fish food prepared to feed. Oh excellent.

Can we go in? Lady: Yeah. Jonathan: Excellent and how many fish do we
have in those ponds? Lady: Its about 700 tons. Jonathan: 700 tons per pond? In this pond, we got 700 tons of fish. Wow! That's crazy.

And so we got 700 tons of fish and then when
you grow to which size? You grow them to which size? To 1 kilo? Before you harvest them? Lady: Usually, I keep until the suitable size
for production. Jonathan: Oh, for the production, yeah. Lady: And then we harvest. Jonathan: Yeah, and so what is a suitable
size for production, approximately? Lady: It depends on the contracts.

Jonathan: On the contracts, yeah? So it goes from what? 500 Grams to 2 kilos? Lady: Yeah. Jonathan: Approximately? So when those fish reach the maximum size,
what is going to be the maximum quantity of fish you will have here? Lady: Its maximum about 850 when we will
harvest. Now, dont keep until 1 kilo. Jonathan: How much food has been thrown in
the water right now? What is the quantity of food? Lady: They feed twice a day.

Jonathan: Twice a day? Yeah? Lady: And each time its about 5 tons. Jonathan: 5 tons? So 10 tons a day. Wow! Okay. 700 Tons? And they feed 10 tons.

Okay. Wow! That's impressive. And so they're going to harvest them soon
as you say. They're going to harvest 70 tons per day of
fish.

Right? Lady: Yes. Jonathan: So Basa is a fish that is sold everywhere
in the world because the flesh is really white. It doesn't have a very strong flavor, and
it's very cheap, as well. So it can be sold to anyone, any market, and
there is a big market in the U.S., In Europe, and even in Australia we got also a big market
for Basa.

And those fish we can feel the bones. Right? The three bones one here, one there and one
there, very strong. So you can see from the fish, from the external
look of the fish you can see how it's grown, if it's grown in good conditions or if it's
grown in very high density. Here for example, we can see that the fins
are damaged.

So the fins are still there. You know, you can see some cases where it's
way worse but you can see that the fins are damaged. You see normally, it's supposed to be one
big fin, one nice fin, but here you can see that the rays are broken so the fish are not
grown in the best conditions even if it's probably one of the best farms I have visited
in Asia. You can see that the fish are still raised
in very high density and they damage each other.

So Basa is a fish that can be raised in high
density in very poor water quality. Here the water looks pretty good, but anyway
in aquaponics, we always try to maintain a low density of fish to keep the fish in the
best conditions and to avoid any stress. And if you avoid all the stress on the fish,
you're going to avoid all the diseases. So you don't have any disease on your fish.

You don't have any problem, and that's very
easy to grow your fish. Lady: This is about 1 kilo. Jonathan: 1 kilo. So all the fish are approximately this size
here.

Right? Lady: Average size. Jonathan: Average size. Lady: Yeah. Average size is about 800.

Jonathan: 800? Lady: 800 grams. Jonathan: Ah yes, I understand now. 800 Grams. Yes.

So now we're going to go and feed the fish. So you can see that to go and feed the fish,
we use some nice rafts and those rafts are going around the rope so it allows us to go
all around the pond. So we go from one way to another and we make
sure to feed the fish during the journey. So in this way, we are sure to throw the food
everywhere around the pond.

So all the fish have access to the fish food. That's very important actually in aquaponics
and in aquaculture. You want to make sure that all the fish have
the same chance to have access to the fish food and they can eat as much food as they
want or as they need. And the reason why that if you throw the food
only from the shore you're going to have all the big fish that are going to come and the
small fish are not going to have access to the food because they're going to be pushed
away.

You can see the quantity of fish that there
is in this pond. It's just crazy. Can you imagine 700 tons of fish in one pond? That's huge. So if you put all the food at one point, you're
going to have a big concentration of all the big fish that are going to fight to have access
to your food, and the small ones are not going to be able to reach it.

So here you can really see we spread the food
everywhere so all the fish they just have to swim to the surface, and they can directly
eat. So we do it twice a day or in this fish farm
they feed twice a day. I used to work in other fish farms where we
used to feed three times or four times a day, but here they do it only twice a day. At this time of the year, at this specific
temperature, they throw 10 tons of fish food for 700 tons of fish which means they are
feeding at 1.4%.

Here, they are fishing the pond and the fish
is into those nets. They will bring the net forward towards this
place here and all the fish are going to be here. Theyre are going to be able to catch it,
put it into the yellow bucket, and then some workers are going to bring it into this boat. And in that boat there are some little tanks,
I mean big tanks, actually.

And this boat can hold 25 tons of fish. So basically, the whole pond is going to come
into this boat here and then the boat is going to go to the factory where the fish are going
to be processed. How many workers are working for this farm? Lady: Its about 15. Jonathan: 15? Lady: 15.

Jonathan: Okay. So here in the factory, they are slaughtering
the fish so they simply put the fish straightaway into cold water. So you see there is a bit of ice in the water
so the water temperature is very low. And as you know, the fish metabolism -- the
fish activity is completely dependent on the water temperature.

So when you put the fish into this water,
into this cold water, the fish are going to slowly decrease their metabolic activity and
they're going to die. And that's supposed to be a very human way
to kill the fish, but also, it preserves the quality of the flesh because there are no
bacteria that can grow at this temperature. So the flesh of the fish is remaining very,
very good. So the farm we just visited was a farm made
of pond dug into the soil into the ground but here we can see on the way back, I could
see on the top of the Mekong River some floating cages farms.

So here they grow the Basa into the Mekong
River, thanks to some cages. That's exactly the same system as we saw when
we went to Cambodia, and we got a video about it on YouTube. I hope you enjoyed the video and it was interesting
for you to see how the Basa was produced and processed. Don't forget to give a like to the video,
